VA-Birders,
Yesterday my wife asked me when it was her turn to see the Snowy Owl, so this
morning we drove out there despite the wind and rain. We parked at the very
highest level of the parking garage :-) and scoped the bird that was sitting
some distance away. I think my 19-month old son even knew what he was looking
at through the scope!
As you look toward the Post Office, scan in the area to the left between the
runways for a large yellow metal box. It was sitting on that. It was far, but
we could make out the features and see that it was facing us, moving its head
as planes passed by. I realize how lucky I was on Friday to see the bird very
close behind the PO. It has a lot of great places it could sit all along the
runway area.
I was amazed that there was only one other couple present when we were there,
and they were able to see the bird as well.
