Sorry for the late report. Driving south on CBBT nearing the northern most
island I saw a Adult Sooty Tern. I was It was only about 20-30 feet away
almost directly over the bridge. A medium sized Tern with forked tail. Pitch
black on to with white ling along forward edge of wing, and white edge of tail.
from underneath white contrasting with black primaries. I was only able to
watch it for a few seconds, but it was obviously a Sooty Tern. I was very
surprised to see it at all, however a spring occurrence is even more unlikely.
I don't believe there was any storm to blow it in and the wind was from the
south/southwest all day so its occurrence does not make any logical sense
whatsoever.
