I heard a Sora's single note call this morning at Rattlesnake Spring at
Blandy Experimental Farm in Clarke County, VA. The rail called three times
from the cattails over the course of a few minutes, but I was never able to
see it. Fred Atwood saw a Sora at this same location on 12 October.
Also in the area was a single Rusty Blackbird amid a small flock of
Red-wings.
Sparrows in the area included Field, Chipping, Song, Swamp, Savannah,
White-throated and White-Crowned. Warblers included 3 Tennessee, 2 Palms,
and several Yellow-rumps. A Hermit Thrush, a flock of Cedar Waxwings, and a
large flock of Robins were gorging themselves on crab apples and hawthorns.
