sections of Mason Neck NWR, so this Field Trip could be very interesting!

Special Behind the Scenes Field Trip at Mason Neck SP!
Come bird "behind the scenes" this Saturday, October 1, at Mason Neck State
Park. This trip will be lead by Jodi Bucknam and Kurt Gaskill. We will
visit areas normally closed to the public to find migrants staging along
Belmont Bay and the Potomac River. We'll meet at the Visitor Center (7301
High Point Rd., Lorton, VA 22079) at 7:00am. From there we will carpool to
fields normally closed to the public. It is suggested that participants
bring bug spray, hiking shoes or boots and water to suit their needs. The
entrance to Mason Neck SP and Mason Neck NWR is off Gunston Rd, a few miles
east from its intersection with Route 1 (Richmond Hwy) in southern Fairfax
Co.
This trip will replace the Mason Neck SP's regular 7:00am birding program
for this week only.
Please note there is a $4/car parking fee in the park (unless you have a
pass). Therefore, some participants may wish to park in the Wood Marsh
Trail parking lot prior to the entrance station and car pool into the park.
