I visited Staunton View Park in Mecklenburg/Charlotte Co. this morning before
heading back over to Campbell Co. to get better looks at the kites. Highlights
at Staunton View besides the continuing MARBLED GODWIT and Ryan Kelley in a
kayak were the continuing TRICOLORED HERON located up river, a molting adult
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and a SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER. Over in Campbell Co., the
2 SWALLOW-TAILED KITES and 3 MISSISSIPPI KITES put on a great show. On 2
occasions the Swallow-tailed Kites perched on bare snags in the nearby eastern
treeline enabling me to digiscope a few shots.
