Hi,
In the Sully Woodlands area in Centreville I observed a male NORTHERN BOBWHITE
along the paved right-of-way that the Dominion Virginia Power trucks use. This
location is approx. 1/3 mile south of the gate/power line area along Bull Run
Post Office Road. The bird was frozen in place for much of the time that I
watched him. I tried to speak softly to it to see what would happen and soon
afterward he ran off.
In the general area, closer to Elklick Woodlands there was a lot of activity
for the second day in a row. Numbers of M. Dove, E.w. Pewee, E. Bluebird, Com.
Yellowthroat, Blue Grosbeak, Indigo Bunting, Field Sparrow and American
Goldfinch all foraging together or at least near each other near the four-way
intersection of right-of-ways. They were on the ground, perched on fences,
perched in trees and hidden in the tall grass and bushes.
