Since this is deer hunting season, I only venture into the back roads on
Sunday.
First stop was "Old Pond" on S.R. 670 (very small wooded pond). The
only thing in the water other than turtles was a male ring necked duck. Also
seen at the pond was a tree with 13 eastern blue birds on it.
Other sightings on the foray:
2 kestrels
2 red tailed hawks
1 Phoebe
2 kingfishers
2 meadowlarks
At Home late afternoon saw a wedge of cormorants so high up barely visible
with the naked eye. Approximately 20 birds heading south.
Also at home vast numbers of goldfinches in every feeder and thistle sack.
Mixed in I counted six pine siskins which have been here daily
