Two other birders showed up to watch the nighthawk show at Tysons Corner
tonight. The lights went on at 9 and the first nighthawk showed up about a
minute later; by 5 after there were 20 or more birds up in the lights. It
was a bit cloudy and windy, so the birds were very actively feeding and were
not up as high as on some other nights. The maximum number of birds was
probably closer to 30, but the number varied widely. Excellent views
tonight. Please note the lights on the building go on exactly at 9 and go
off exactly at 10. So, the window for seeing the birds is only one-hour
long.
