Hey all, sorry for the late report, but its been a bit of a
time crunch lately. In brief, Saturday
May 5 I checked Jones Hole Swamp off Cabin Pt. Rd./SR 602 (just southwest of Rt.
35) in Sussex Co. for Kentucky Warblers.
Sure enough, even though it was already early afternoon I heard a lot of
warblers singing here, including 2 Kentucky Warblers and 1 Swainson’s
Warbler. The latter is my personal
farthest north and farthest inland Swainson’s.
Also had a Black-throated Blue Warbler singing here. On a similar note, I had
a Kentucky Warbler
singing from Buckhorn Swamp close to the road off SR 664, Southampton Co.
on Sunday, May 6. This gravel road was
very birdy in the late afternoon, with little to no other vehicular
traffic. Also of note was a No.
Waterthrush singing from Flat Swamp off The Hall Rd. nearby. Finally,
traveling through Southampton Co.
recently at night I heard a couple Chuck-wills-widows and 1 Whip-poor-will (the
Chucks in b/w Courtland and Berlin and the Whip near Branchville). All the
