This is in reply to those who asked for more specific directions to look for
the STK.
The two Swallow-tailed Kites I saw on July 23 were off Rt. 1201, Terrapin Cove
Rd., near the York River Yacht Haven. Gloucester Point Baptist Church on this
road is a good place to stop and look east. The best sighting I had was there
in May 2002. The kite which I saw on Thursday, Aug. 5 was visible from Rt 17,
south-east of York River Crossing Shopping Center. All of the sightings were
in the vicinity of Sarah's Creek.
I suggest you look down river when you cross the Coleman Bridge on Rt. 17. The
Tidemill and Bena areas would also be good places to look. The ADC Gloucester
and Mathews Map Book, page 93 is a good guide for this area.
