The Northern Shenandoah Valley CBC will be this Saturday, Dec 19, 2009.
Birdwise it has been pretty quiet locally. We don't have any of the northern
finches this year and Ron Pittaway's annual finch report indicates no big
eruptions coming our way. Ron is a Dept. of Natural Resources field biologist
from Ontario who gathers large quantities of data (seed and insect data like
spruce budworm outbreaks) from across Canada to make his determinations. We
also have no Black-capped Chickadees in the valley and don't expect any of the
Canadian subspecies to be coming our way. My Canadian buddies tell me they are
sitting tight this year. Please send to all three emails if you would like to
join us on our count Chuck Turner cht28@xxxxxx<mailto:cht28@xxxxxx> (Chuck is a
former student who is helping as a compiler this year), Ann Simpson
