Circled the island once and got a nice view of big snapping turtle in the
mud opposite the
cypress swamp.
For you botany buffs, a bit of trivia: Cypress tree growing here mark the
furthest north that
these unusual trees have been found.
I won't dwell on Theodore Roosevelt Island since it was a total bust as far
as warblers went.
Even the more common birds seemed to be conspicuously absent.
Of course I was there around noon, so I shouldn't expect as much as from
morning walks.
I sure hope things perk up soon.
