I posted to this list a few weeks back about seeing a 1/2 dozen or so
Green Herons in the parking lot where I work (Tysons Corner - McLean,
VA), here is my update:
At least one pair of Herons have successfully raised 3 fledglings. I
have located their nest and their chicks. The nest is about 30 feet up
in a tree in the middle of the parking lot. The chicks are very
tentative outside of the nest but eagerly await every return trip from
the parents. I have found a few frog carcasses below the nest as well as
other unidentifiable (at least by be) detritus. It would appear that the
parents "shop for dinner" at the lake across the street at the
Gannet/USA Today building.
Good Birding!
