Purple finches showed up in my backyard two days ago and Pine Siskins,
Juncos and White-throated sparrows today. I have not seen the finches for
years and see the siskins only rarely. The juncos and white-throated
sparrows will be with us for the winter. A Red-shouldered hawk sailed South
on Wednesday. Quite a week.
Our backyard birds, including woodpeckers, love the golden flaxseed I now
put in in the feeder. Squirrels never touch it.
