On a rather quiet , chilly and windy day a Virginia Rail was calling loud
and clear from the center of the Loop of the boardwalk. Also heard were
Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers and Field Sparrows with their buzzy grunts like little
piglets. Good views were to be had of a ruby crowned Kinglet , Phoebe and
Wilson's Snipe from the Tower. I saw a small falcon in flight and saw it's
tail- it looked to be a kestrel, but I'm not sure. Not a bad day at the
park.
