Kudos to the Augusta and Monticello Bird Clubs for hosting a great Annual
Meeting! A few photos to share; those of you who joined either Andrew Dolby's
Saturday May 9 field trip or Penny Warren's Allen Nature Preserve Sunday trip
may recognize some of the critters.
On the Blue Ridge Parkway on Saturday (Andrew's trip), we had close looks at a
worm-eating Black-and-white Warbler (no, that's not a hybrid(!)) The photo
series intrigued me, showing details I hadn't noticed in the field. After
beating the worm, the bird appears to drop and observe it. Then, perhaps after
confirming death, it manages to swallow the substantial-looking meal.
Resulting in a SERIOUSLY bulging crop -- pretty cool.
