I've had the same female sapsucker coming to my woodpecker feeder for more than
2 years. I use any kind of suet available, mixed with a little hot pepper
suet to keep the squirrels away.

Subject: Re: [Va-bird] Bird feeding question
This past year we've had a sapsucker come to our split peanut and finch-blend
feeders (the blend is nyjer plus sunflower kernels, from Wild Birds Unltd.)
We've been feeding birds for 15+ years and it's the first time a sapsucker has
come to our feeders; normally they tap sap from the viburnum next to our house.

Good afternoon,
We are able to provide food for all the birds frequenting our yard except for
a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. We have a Suet “Sandwich” that other species of
woodpeckers can manage, but not the Sapsucker.
Any suggestions on what we can do to help it? It does spend time poking
around in the bark on our Silver Maple. But, it seems o.k., but with the
drastic wind chill here in Herndon, we’re not sure it will make it.
It cannot manage the suet in a cup that is in a cage frequented by the
Bluebirds.
Thanks for any suggestions,
