Hey Rich,
Stopped by there at 4:00 this afternoon. Saw 3 female Bobolinks in the same
field. They were perched on top of one of the small trees.
FYI - According to the signage, they're calling the house "Pine Croft" now.

Subject: [Va-bird] Bobolinks in Fairfax Co.
Stopped by the Barrett House on Lorton Rd (just west of the Equestrian Center)
this morning. Fairfax Co is letting the grass get a little higher (so far) this
year and there were easily 30 Bobolinks in the field to the west of the paved
path going toward the golf course.
About half lifted off and head north out of sight but many stayed dropping into
the grass and then up to tree branches affording great looks at their "Harpo
Marx" hairdo head. This is an area where Bobolinks used to nest and may again
if the county does not mow the grass. It's also the highest # of Bobolinks I
have seen in Fairfax Co.
