The Brewer's Sparrow was still present at this morning (1/19) around 8:45 am
at the usual location. Got several excellent views.

Subject: [Va-bird] Brewer's Sparrow request
VARCOM has already received the report for this species and it will be going
out for review in the near future. This is a potential first state record,
and as such it is really important for us to know how long the bird stays
around. Quite often when a rare species is reported, there is a big rush to
see it, then after a while people lose interest (particularly if - unlike
me - they've seen it) and it doesn't get reported anymore and we never know
when the bird was last seen.
So, please, if you are out at Occoquan and are continuing to see it - or if
you are not (negative data is important, too) please post to this list serve
and put it out on eBird, too. I get the eBird rarities alerts for the state
and that's one way I've been finding out when the bird is being seen.
Unfortunately the alert system can't indicate negative data so, that is why
reporting that it has not been seen will help define a last date for this
record.
Thelma Dalmas made a point of doing this for last year's Swallow-tailed
Kite, and it was invaluable
