There was a young-of-the-year Great Cormorant on the pilings/snags at the mouth
of Hunting Creek in September 1989. Another was reported from Roaches Run,
Arlington, in October or November roughly five years ago. Across the river and
inside the Beltway, another young-of-the-year Great Cormorant was seen during
November and December 2000 on pilings on the DC side of the river. I know of
two further sightings in DC; there are at least two sightings in Montgomery
County, Maryland, as well.
