About the hawk---
...dark head, white throat, classic belly-band, white above and below
the belly-band, slightly rufous on underside of the tail. The shadow across
the bottom of the tail looks like minor variation.
..looks like a RT Hawk.

Subject: [Va-bird] Hawk ID Help
Happy Weekend Folks
I was at Dyke Marsh this afternoon and walked up towards Old Town to look for the Greater White Fronted Goose. I didn't find it, but I did find a Cackling (the first one I'm sure I've seen) and I also had a hawk alight on a branch quite close to the trail. I'm still learning, and would appreciate any help in ID'ing the hawk. It was medium to medium large sized, had a single band on the lower portion of it's tail, and brown eyes. I've enclosed a link to some photos of it.

Thanks, and take care
