My feeder was attracting visitors as of this morning (4 September) and there
are at least two separate ruby-throated hummers since, in characteristic
fashion, they occasionally duel with one another over the three portals on the
feeder. I confess that I replenish the feeder only every Saturday morning, but
that seems to suffice, and my experience has been that the hummers disappear
toward the latter part of September.

Subject: [Va-bird] Hummingbird questions
Hi,
1 ) I have had 2 hummingbirds at my feeder after waiting for 3 years for them
to find the feeder. I saw the first hummingbird last Monday, however, they have
stopped coming to the feeder since Sunday, 8/31. Is anyone else seeing the same
behaviour? I am still filling my feeders in the hopes that they will be back
before they leave for the season.
2) If anyone who lives close to Falls Church is cleaning up their flower beds
and has spare native bulbs or other native plants that hummingbirds and
butterflies like, please let me know. I will be glad to use them in my garden.
Thanks,
Liezel
