Hi Don,

I live in the Cherry Run subdivision, roughly between Ox Rd. (Rt 123)/ Burke Lake Rd and the King's Park subdivision. The cicadas in my area are becoming increasingly more audible. Cicadas are an important food source for the Kites. The Mississippi Kites should be sighted soon. Last year I enjoyed seeing the Kites soaring above my home on Harr Court (Burke).

I drove through the Kings Park subdivision, BRIEFLY, twice this afternoon;
once about 1:45 and again about 5:30. I also drove down Burke Lake Rd. past
Ox Rd.and back. I saw no kites at any time. HOWEVER, I totally agree with
Bob Augustine about there being kites in that area.  He and I have been
seeing kites, and nests, there for several years and  there are surely
several nests in the general area. Last summer (late July and into August)
I counted at least seven kites (including adults, juveniles, and sub-adult
birds) on at least 2 or 3 occasions. I believe kites should be not difficult
to see in that area before too long.
