I think it is on the Birding by Ear/More birding by Ear CDs that the two
birds are compared to train people not to confuse the two. Glad you got to
see/hear them!

Subject: [Va-bird] Least Bitterns
Hello all,
I went to Dutch Gap Conservation Area near Richmond yesterday
6-19-11. I arrived at 9AM. I was there about 15 min. when a male
L. Bittern flew across the marsh at the first platform. For the next
2 hrs I heard them calling. Never got to see them along the edge of
the water. I stayed 1 more hr. I did see a few quick gleamses of
them flying but not like the first sighting. They sound like a BB
Cuckoo calling to me.
