Bev,
Earlier in this decade (I think in 2001 but I'd have to check my records to be
sure) I saw 7 Loggerhead Shrikes (3 adults and 4 immature birds from 2 dif.
nests) on one summer day on the two farms next to my house near Bluemont.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen a single Loggerhead Shrike in my yard/local patch
since 2003. They are still seen occasionally in Loudoun County but in fewer
and fewer numbers every year ...

A number of years ago (10 or more) Loggerhead Shrikes were found at the
Dulles Wetlands, for several
consecutive years. I can also remember seeing them on Tail Race Rd., which
deadends into
Route 15 from the West. This road actually takes you into Aldie. Also, on
the right a couple of
hundred yards from Rte 15, there's a small pond that regularly (still) hosts
a Willow Flycatcher.
