A little follow-up to my quick post from this morning. The weather was
intermittent drizzle and cold this morning, in other words, "perfect for
ducks". In addition to the 6 loons reported, a 7th also showed up, and a
couple of them yodeled for me several times. I did manage a few photos of
the juvenile/1st year Surf Scoter, which are the first 4 at
https://www.flickr.com/photos/daveboltz/ . The Long-tailed Duck was a drake.
This was my first real bird walk in my new neighborhood. Not a bad start. 6
Woodpeckers was also a nice non-waterfowl highlight. Complete list below.
