Each fall, I observe a few birds in my yard that fit this description,
uniformly brown with iridescent dark blue wings. Despite the fact that I

find this plumage illustrated in the various field guides, I have concluded
that these are first fall Common Grackles. Hopefully, others will comment on
your observation as well.
