Many birders searched for the Townsend's Warbler this morning. From 7:30am
until I left at noon there were NO CONFIRMED SIGHTINGS of the bird. After
noon I am not aware of any reports but I know people were looking.
At about 1115am a group of three birders including myself heard the song of
a Townsend's Warbler in response to playback at the last picnic shelter
before the fire circle. It sang twice (I only heard it once). The song
came from down the hill towards the water so we quickly hurried that way
half expecting to find someone else playing tape. We didn't find anyone
playing tape and another birder near us also heard the song. In that area
was a mixed flock, mostly both kinglets, but we could not find the bird. We
worked it pretty hard. It did not sing again while we were there. I think
it was "the" bird.
