This location is the exact same spot that I was seeing the Common Goldeneye
last weekend & the weekend before. Marlin Bay Drive is the road that runs
along the north edge of Pleasure House Point. If you exit right from Shore
Drive onto Marlin Bay Drive, keep going until the very end (you'll see a
bike path continuing on, but the road makes a 90 degree turn to the left.
At this spot, if you look to the right (south), you will see a canal/pond
that flows south from the road out through a culvert to Pleasure House
Creek. At the outlet end, there was a deer carcass presumably dumped back
in October/November I think it was, I use that as a reference point solely
because there are several ponds at PHP and only one with a very visible
carcass as a marker seen from the typical trail walked. The tanager must be
along the shoreline of this canal, there are pine trees on both sides and
well established trails on the east side, with a still walkable trail on
the west shore.
Hope this helps. I hope this one is re-spotted! Very neat bird, and very
neat that there was photographs provided as well in the eBird report.

Facing deer carcass in water follow short path on right that leads to
Marlin Bay rd. WETA was in small pines canal side 25 yards from deer
carcass.
