Thanks for that information. The bird should be fine within a few days , then I
can take it to the Potomac. This has happened before. The bird landed on wet
pavement thinking it was water, then it cannot get airborne. It was floundering
around striking out at people. Usually it would be releasable immediately , but
the vet wants it to have a few days for the feet to heal up. Normally I tell
people just to get the bird to open water. Glad to know it is not a really late
migrant.
