Everyone should check these late Hummers carefully to make sure they
are Ruby-throated and not something unusual. A Calliope has been seen
In Maryland recently and Rufous Hummers are seen fairly regularly in
Virginia into the winter.

My latest date in 2007 was October 17. This year mine left on October
6.
But I am keeping the feeders out in case some latecomers stop by. As
far as
I could tell, in the last few weeks all the hummers have been females.
Is
this unusual?

I still have a hummer or two at my feeders. It is so great to still be
seeing them. Is this one of the lastet dates?
