This morning I saw a single male Purple Martin flying with Tree Swallows at
Blandy Experimental Farm in Clarke County (my first Purple Martin at Blandy
last year was April 4). At about 6 this evening I saw a male Purple Martin
(perhaps the same bird) sitting alone on one of the martin houses at Blandy.
Also in the early evening I found a Vesper Sparrow along the edge of the
Native Plant Trail Meadow, the first I've seen here in a couple years.
Other birds at Blandy include lots of singing Eastern Meadowlarks, Chipping
Sparrows, Swamp Sparrows, and a couple of Pine Warblers.
