Hello all
Drove from Augusta County over to Chincoteague today. Doing some birding along
the way and had a few goodies.
In Richmond along I-64 at Exit 193A (Hwy 33) had a flyover Common Raven which
was a surprise given how Far East. The bird flew right over the car and as
passenger I was able to notice the wedge-shaped tail, huge head, huge bill.
When it flew right next to a Turkey Vulture it was 2/3-3/4 the size unlike a
crow which would've looked tiny.
At Pleasure House Point I found the continuing Western Tanager in the same pine
woods as previously reported. There were also 2 Osprey flying around. The
reported E Wigeon was not among the AmWigeon/Gadwall flock.
At CBBT #1 there were plenty of LTDucks and all 3 Scoter species but nothing
unusual like Harlequin Duck, Glaucous Gull, or Razorbill
Good birding
