Due to excessive damage to the road from the rain Monday-Wednesday, the
entrance to
Warbler Rd. from Sunset Field parking area on the Blue Ridge Pkwy will be
closed for several
weeks at least, maybe longer. Eight to nine inches of rain caused water to pour
down the mountain sides in places where NPS personnel have not seen it flow
before
(with probable exception of hurricanes). You can walk in but the usual casual
birding
from a car is no longer possible. You can take the Arcadia exit at MP 168 on
I-81 and drive
to a parking area east of the James R. Be aware that large equipment will be
working the 812
and 768 roads.
