Hi,
I spent more than two hours at Occoquan Bay NWR today starting around 4pm
and it was a fantastic session. I saw tons of warblers, in particular,
there were many Cape Mays -- I've never seen so many Cape May in one place,
conservatively there were at least a dozen, maybe even more. There were two
flocks (or maybe loosely the same flock, one along Deep Hole Road between
Fox and Easy Roads, but much closer to Easy, mixed with N. Parula,
Yellow-rumped, etc.; another along Easy Road just past the creek crossing
and near the bay (intersection with Easy Road), mixed with Palm, Yellow,
Chestnut-sided, etc. Another notable one is a fall plumage Blackpoll.
