Yesterday we birded the Pocosin Cabin trail and saw Blue-headed Vireo and
Veery right in the parking area. Then on the Gravel Springs Hut trail we
had good looks at Cerulean Warblers fairly low in the trees in the open
woodland. In the late afternoon we spent an hour at The Point lookout
where we had lots and lots of Chestnut-sided, Canada, and Black-and-white
Warblers so close binocs were almost unnecessary. In all 3 locales, the
Redstarts were everywhere, as were Red-eyed Vireos, Wood Thrushes, and
Ovenbirds. Other good sightings included Indigo Bunting, Scarlet Tanager,
and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
