Riverbend Park meadow (Great Falls, VA) this Friday morning provided a good,
early warbler wave. I counted 4 Blue-winged, 2 Nashville, 2 Parula, 1
Chestnut-sided, 5 Magnolias, 1 Ovenbird, and 6 Common Yellowthroats.
Other sightings included Y-B Cuckoo, Scarlet Tanager, Hairy Woodpecker, House
Wrens, E. Wood Peewees and Red-eyed Vireos in addition to the usual
year-round residents. Also lots of B-G Gnatcatchers are around--and lots of
Gnats too.
The grassy paths have just been mowed but the morning dew still can get
footwear plenty wet.
