I walked a large portion of the Washington Ditch this afternoon, after work.
The most notable bird was a non-vocal and solitary White-eyed Vireo. I also
heard a Winter Wren sing once and heard a number of Hermit Thrushes "chucking".
Not too unexpected, I encountered all expected woodpecker species, except
Red-headed Woodpecker. I believe I also saw a flock of Wild Turkey near the
gate near the parking lot, but I was very far down the path and can't be sure
of this. A fairly young bear cub was wandering in the field at the turn-off to
Washington Ditch. I hope its mother was nearby, but I never saw her. It did
seem to be searching.
