Greetings all,
Martha Lang, Freya De Cola, Carol, and I covered Area 14 for the Audubon
Society of Northern Virginia's annual waterfowl count.
The most productive areas included the "lake" at Dulles, the various Reston
lakes and ponds (one of which has been pretty much drained for maintenance),
Lake Fairfax (no Horned Grebe, but many, many cyclists participating in a race
thru the park), and a wetlands area adjacent to Pleasant Valley Road (our only
GREEN WINGED TEAL for the count).
In the non-waterfowl category, we were somewhat surprised to find a small flock
of RED WINGED BLACKBIRDS at Butler Pond in Reston.
