While birding in Culpeper county yesterday morning, I ran into Paul Salaman
and Bob Ridgely. While Paul and I were staring at our scopes, attempting to
identify distant shorebirds in misting rain, Bob noted a Western Kingbird
that came in from the south and flew into a tree top. It hopped to the next
tree, and then flew out decisively to the north, disappearing from sight.
The bird was clearly not chase-able, but the observation of the WEKI in
Alexandria and then this bird a day later may suggest opportunities for
some interesting [weather-related] vagrants? Keep looking up ;-)
Cheers,
Russ Taylor
