Shortly after arriving at Occoquan Bay NWR this morning I decided to head
straight to the Painted Turtle Pond area. Before ever leaving the main road
to turn back I heard what sounded like a dove doing a Barred Owl call. So,
I walked a bit further and found a White-winged Dove perched in a dead snag
on the north side of the entry road, near the service road on that same
side. I got a couple of IDable pics. Phil Silas came a couple of hours later
and together we could not re-find the bird. Complete list from the morning,
