Hey all,
Here are some notable sightings I've had lately, in the Williamsburg area.

First Observations of the Fall season:
Dark-eyed Junco - 16 October - College of William and Mary
White-throated Sparrow - 16 October - at my apartment complex on Merrimac
Trl, Williamsburg
Winter Wren - 18 October - Greensprings Nature Trail
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 21 October - College of William and Mary
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 20 October - College of William and Mary

Late-ish Observations of Migrants:
Northern Parula - 1 male with a mixed flock of warblers (Mostly
Yellow-rumped with some Pines)
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 1 female in same flock, at Greensprings Nature
Trail, 18 October.

Finally, not in the Williamsburg area...
Pine Siskin - 1 calling over Big Meadows parking lot in Shenandoah National
Park, 13 October 2008.
So it seems like there's a major irruption of PISI this year, eh? I wonder
how long until I hear one in Williamsburg...

I'm still waiting for my first Rusty Blackbird of the fall. (Which I'll be
studying for my thesis research.)

Good Birding,
Andy
