VA-Birders - especially Fort Belvoir CBC counters:
While searching through the gull flocks at Neabsco Creek starting at 3:30pm, I
lucked upon 4 Wilson's Snipes. If the birds had not flown through my scope
view, I don't think I would have ever seen them. Once they settled down
amongst the gulls and vegetation, they just disappeared. As previously
reported, I also found a single adult Lesser Black-backed Gull amongst the
large gull flock.
I viewed these birds from the dirt road that descends from the 2nd pullout
along Blackburn Road (not the same as the 1st pullout that has the Clay-colored
Sparrow and Lincoln's Sparrow).
Hope these birds are found on count day,
