I meant to submit this yesterday when I got back to the office, but Tuesday on
the back side of Sandy the Dark-eyed Juncos, White-throated Sparrows, and
Red-breasted Nuthatches and arrived in large numbers. I had had a few
white-throats around for a few weeks and 2 Red-breasted Nuthatches, but with
the north wind, I had over 100 birds in the yard on Tuesday (estimated) and at
least 8 Red-breasted Nuthatches. I had heard a Hermit Thrush a week or so ago,
but he was nice enough to stand in the birch tree over the back porch for a
nice view on Tuesday.
If you use Grandma's old wives tale about 7 snowbirds (i.e. juncos) under the
birdfeeder means snow, I should have had a blizzard on Tuesday night!!!
