Today, while driving up Compton Mt, I heard the FOS Wood Thrush. Great to hear
them again. Also singing were a Hooded Warbler and a Blue-headed Vireo.
Arriving at home I took a walk around the path on our property here and was
surprised to find a first of the season Worm Eating Warbler.
I also found a couple of Ovenbirds, a Hooded Warbler, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet,
two Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, a Blue-headed Vireo, a Red-shouldered Hawk,
Red-bellied and Downy Woodpeckers, a Flicker, a couple of Eastern Towhees,
Northern Cardinals, and a couple of Titmice.
I watched a Nuthatch carry food down into a hole in a Sassafras Tree.
When I got back to the house my wife told me that we had just had our first of
the season Gray Catbird at the suet feeder.
At the feeder we now have 4 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, 2 males and two females.
One of the pair of Brown Thrashers is coming to the suet (peanut butter
mixture). A couple of Grackles are mixed in with the cowbirds. The Chipping
Sparrows and Goldfinches are still here, as is the pair of Red-bellied
Woodpeckers.
Don't you just love spring,
