VA-Birders,
Walking around the edge of our pasture late this evening I flushed a Woodcock.
In the dim light all I could see was the rounded wings and the long, pointed
bill. Its wings whistled as it flew up all of a sudden from a few feet away,
and flew off about 20 feet above the field, into the woods.
