Went birding this morning at Wilck's Lake in Farmville. Didn't see much
until I noticed a small flock of warblers in the tree next to me. Mixed in
with some Yellow and Prothonotary Warblers was a single YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLER. Solid white throat, faint yellow 'shoulders' and crown, two white
wing bars, and the overall black streaked appearance led to my conclusion.
Observed the bird first for a good 15 seconds and later for about a minute.
Previous Piedmont record is September 28.
