VA BIRDers,
A visit to The Point (the roads just north of Quantico Creek; Possum Point
and Cockpit Point Rds) produced a singing Yellow-throated Warbler in pines
near the water's edge. Another highlight was Eastern Meadowlark in the
grass at the big earthen dam; my only other sighting of this species at The
Point was 3/27/10. Among the many singing birds today were a few that were
quite welcome: Brown Creeper, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Ruby-crowned Kinglet,
Hermit Thrush, Pine Warbler, Field Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, and Dark-eyed
Junco. Later in the day I drove past a singing Chipping Sparrow at Mason
Neck. Lastly, Northern Rough-winged Swallow was observed over Neabsco
Creek.
