"my Goldfinch and House Finch numbers seem to be quite
low so far this fall. Anyone else notice that?"
Goldfinches are always gone at this time of year at my home in western
Albemarle (I keep records). Seems to me that they must migrate a bit farther
south and the ones seen in the winter are the ones that have come down from
farther north.
And today I had an adult male Ruby-throat visit my Honeysuckle Fuchsia on
the porch 3 separate times in late morning. As it has not returned at all
this
afternoon, I suspect it has continued its journey south.
Sincerely,
Marlene
