Hi!
115 house finches and 1 bobolink were with 40
cowbirds feeding on grass and "weed" seeds on the
Flint Hill School campus in Oakton, Fairfax
County this morning at 8:30. This is probably
the largest number of house finches I have ever
seen in 1 location.
Yesterday a palm warbler was also here. A
rose-breasted grosbeak was here on Monday the
19th.
The first Savannah Sparrow of the season was here
on campus Sept 12th.
Three times since school began we have seen an
immature cooper's hawk unsuccessfully chasing
mourning doves and starlings.
A Bald Eagle immature flew over campus on Sept 15
and an osprey flew over on Sept 19th.
